How does a church support and assist parents to disciple their children?

At Vista, we believe that a Christ-centered and Biblically-based curriculum is one tool that is necessary to support and assist parents. Several of our members, parents and leaders have labored this year to choose an appropriate curriculum that fits this criteria. We believe that God led this team to the best curriculum fit for the worshipful, relational and missional strategy of Vista Churches.

The Gospel Project is a three-year, comprehensive Bible survey curriculum for preschoolers through adulthood. We have purchased this curriculum for preschool through middle school classrooms including Base Camp (4 & 5 year olds), Climb (Dublin, kindergarten through third grade, Worthington, first through fifth grade), Summit (Dublin, fourth and fifth grade) and Rapids (Dublin, sixth through eighth grade). The Gospel Project allows all age groups to study the same Bible lesson simultaneously and provides a family friendly website with a creative mobile application.

We encourage you to download the free Gospel Project app on your smart phone or tablet. It is a way to continue the learning throughout the week! You can listen to songs, view the lessons, and your child can color pages on your smart phone or iPad. The Gospel Project is accessible to your child and family!

Play-n-Worship is a two-year curriculum that teaches the Bible in creative play-based lessons that preschoolers love. Songs, activities and storytelling repetition are used to reinforce spiritual truths of worship that families can duplicate at home. We have purchased for Meadowlands (two-year-olds) and Base Camp (three-year-olds) classes.

The curriculum team believes that these two options best achieve the original guidelines approved by Pastors and Elders:
1. Bible-based survey
2. Gospel-centered tie to Jesus in every lesson
3. Worshipful, relational and missional components in each lesson
4. Educationally appropriate for each age group
5. Clear lesson preparation guide for parent and volunteer teachers
6. Digital resources to assist a mobile church structure
7. Reliable publishing, training resources and support
8. Acceptable price point for best use of financial resources

We are so thankful for all the work and preparation many parents and leaders donated in this curriculum phase of Kids Community restructure. We trust that God will honor their sacrifice and leadership by blessing our families with spiritual development tools to nurture spiritual growth in their children.
