What is the singular most valuable voice in the life of a child?
As a parent, you have the greatest potential to influence your child’s heart and life. You are the loudest of all voices, and you are the best person to show compassion, forgiveness, and affirmation to them. Even when your children begin to age and seek out other voices, your voice should and will always stay the one they most need to hear.
It’s our goal to be your biggest fan and strongest supporter as you lead your family. We want to partner with you in this great adventure called parenting. We came up with three things we feel that every parent can do to start the journey of spiritually parenting their family:
So what is talk.pray.do?
Talk Pray Do is designed to coincide and align with Vista’s values. Its a simple resource based on Deuteronomy 6, encouraging families to teach their children about God as they go through the ordinary experiences of life. It’s about intentionality within the rhythm of your everyday life.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 says:
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
It is here when Israel is commanded to teach their children about the one true God as they go through the ordinary experience of life. So when you are at home, going for walks, getting up in the morning, bedtimes, drive times, play times, and more you can create opportunities to lead your family spiritually.
What we ask of parents?
We encourage you to TALK with your children for 15 minutes a day. PRAY at least twice a week in meaningful time together as a family. Then we simply ask that you DO one family night a month.
Throughout the month via our online communities, we will share ideas and creative ways you can put talk.pray.do into action in your family’s life.
If you have not already we encourage you to like Vista Churches on Facebook. While you are there check out Vista Dublin and Vista Worthington pages, and “like” whichever site you attend (or both, if you’d like!).
